Information On The Rapper

Cookie Monster is one of the main puppet characters featured on the long-running children's educational television program Sesame Street. He is, as his name implies, a monster who loves and is mostly seen eating cookies, a trait that caused perceived controversy over health and obesity issues and led to the widespread rumor in the early 2000s that he would be changed into or replaced with a "Veggie Monster". In actuality, Cookie Monster was put on somewhat of a "diet" amounting to him eating fewer cookies and more of various other foods, while keeping his identity.

Notable sequences from the show prominently featuring Cookie Monster include the musical numbers "C is for Cookie", "A Cookie is a Sometimes Food" and "Healthy Foods", "Monsterpiece Theater" in which he appears as host figure "Alistair Cookie", a sketch where he fails to deduce that a "mystery" item being presented by Kermit the Frog is an orange and not a cookie, and even a parody of The Hunger Games called "The Hungry Games". The character is also widely believed to be the origin of the now-classic memetic phrase "OM NOM NOM!"

…"C" is for "cookie", and it also is for "crap",

Which is best word me can use to describe your crummy raps!

Me rounding out the quintessential Sesame Street trio,

For me am, in fact, the monster at the end of this video!

Obesity and grammar concerns cause me to get slammed,

But me no change for them! Like Popeye, me am what me am.

You may have one advantage: Me no have me own movie,

But that's it, 'cause me best rapper any Muppet could be!

See, me classically–trained: just watch "Monsterpiece Theater",

And though me known for eating cookies, me not really picky eater.

Me have been here all along, from start of this song,

And now show meself to eat your honey like "OM NOM NOM NOM!"

Me not going to eat you, though, 'cause you taste no good!

As me friend Hoots would say, poo–poo is a never food!

Me shooting your words down like stupid "Veggie Monster" rumors,

And F.Y.I., Tigger, that not spring in your tail; it tumor!

  • He is the first backup rapper to be voiced by the same person as the character they back up.
